The journey from dream to reality began in April 1998. PastaMania
secured a great location for the prototype store. We then
proceeded to work on transforming the outlet into what we
could see in our vision. Nothing was sacred, everything
was open to experimentation: business name, menu, management,
staff, kitchen equipment, recipes, work flow, suppliers,
ordering and cashier system, décor and image, logo
etc.
Over a period of three years PastaMania became renowned
for great pasta and pizza at very affordable pricing.
From all the feedbacks, we had gained a great reputation,
and through word of mouth we were seeing incredible sales
growth.
In August 2000 a second outlet was opened in the downtown
business district in response to our regular customers’
requests. This gave us the opportunity to develop the
management systems that would be required to successfully
manage a multi-store chain of PastaMania outlets.
As the team and reputation continued to grow, the directors
realized that to fully capitalize on the strength of the
system and brand that was emerging they needed to bring
in an investor who could help to take PastaMania to the
international arena. Globamatrix Holdings Pte Ltd (GMX)
had an extensive network of international business associates,
corporate strength and capital to invest, had been desiring
to get into the food business. Bringing together the two
entities from 1st January 2002, quickly put PastaMania
in a rapid growth path.
In April 2002 the third PastaMania store was opened complete
with a new, stronger corporate identity. This PastaMania
‘look’ has become a distinctive element to
the emerging international brand. PastaMania then added
a further 3 corporate owned outlets in Singapore, as well
as their first Singapore franchisee by year end. The positive
response to the new outlets continues to show the wide
acceptance of our growing band of enthusiastic and loyal
customers to the brand and to the food.
Today, 10 years since its opening, PastaMania now has
20 outlets in Singapore and 10 outlets in Middle East. There’s no stopping to this business,
PastaMania will be launching our first flagship outlet
in the heart of Kuala Lumpur – Malaysia in September
2007.
Our Directors have been conferred as the Entreprenuer
of the Year 2004. This inspires and humbles us to work
harder and to uphold the trust and expectations. We will
continue with our expansion to cater to the growing numbers
of Pastamaniacs, and at the same time bring the joy of
eating quality food conveniently available at prices readily
affordable to everyone all over the World.
